Specialty glass and glazes for refractory materials
Vibrantz offers RTU glazes and specialty glass designed to impart certain characteristics required for many refractory applications. Engineered properties include protection against re-oxidation, anti-sticking, surface glossiness and resistance against thermal shock or mechanical stress.
Our refractory glass materials can be used as a flux which reduces temperatures in firing cycles, requiring less equipment and energy consumption resulting in a more environmentally responsible refractory process.
Our glazes and glass for graphite crucible applications are designed to protect against oxidation for non-ferrous metal alloy melts. Our high-temperature glazes are used for coatings of alumina oxide substrates or mullite. We also offer specialty glass and glazes that introduce boron in a high content to coating materials. Glass materials are available in different grain size distributions, which can be mixed directly in raw material recipes.
Process temperature control rings
Originally developed for critical firing processes for electronic ceramic components, Vibrantz process temperature control rings (PTCRs) provide easy and accurate heat measurement for batch and continuous tunnel kilns in different atmospheres across a temperature range from 1040°F to 3182°F (560°C to 1750°C.) Our technical service team can also provide tailored PTCR solutions for kilns that utilize vacuum, reductive or nitrogen atmospheres.
Using process temperature control rings can eliminate or significantly reduce expensive, time-consuming quality checks, destruction testing and geometry, density or porosity testing. Each individual ring can be relied on to perform as specified in the conversion table provided, resulting in excellent temperature accuracy, which reduces the amount of effort dedicated to firing quality and control. Our unique approach allows PTCR users the ability to recalibrate or recalculate standards when introducing rings from a new batch.
Industrial ceramic pigments
Our specialty industrial ceramic pigments are designed to color all types of special glazes and bodies used for industrial ceramics. Our InstantColor® ceramic pigment range contains 25 ceramic stains that exhibit high purity, intensity and brilliance. Significant cost savings can be achieved as colors are easily adjusted right in the barrel.
Our ceramic inclusion pigments create shining red, brilliant orange and intense yellow color shades of ceramic bodies and glazes at high firing temperatures. This adds much more versatility to the traditional spectrum of colors available to the ceramic world. The chemical and thermal stability of our inclusion pigments also ensures both a high level of production safety and excellent end-product profitability.
A significant environmental advantage of our cadmium-based inclusion pigments is the low amount of cadmium that can achieve the desired brilliant color at high firing temperatures. These pigments are stabilized by encapsulation in chemically and thermally stable crystals.
Dental pigments
Vibrantz offers the highest purity dental pigments with a full palette of stains for dental ceramics that meet the most stringent requirements for heavy metal content and radioactivity. The chromaticity offered by our dental pigments provides extremely high flexibility in dental ceramic coloring. To achieve a natural appearance in dental ceramics, our dental pigments cover a complete spectrum from opaque to transparent in different color intensities and shades that include yellow via brown, pink, and blue.
Color strength can be customized by adjusting the quantity of pigment used enabling a full color space. All of our dental ceramic pigment products have been developed specifically to fulfill the highest purity, color, aesthetics and biocompatibility standards required for use in dental ceramic applications.
Our dental pigment manufacturing processes ensure the highest quality by using raw materials of extremely high purity. Our zircon-based dental pigments show greatly reduced radioactivity with an order of magnitude lower than natural zircon raw materials. In addition, only high purity silica is added as an adjustment material to avoid any contamination.
Cobalt aluminate inoculants for investment casting
Our cobalt-aluminate inoculant agents are proven to be effective in the investment casting process of super alloys. These inoculants have a consistent and optimized distribution of fine-sized grain microstructures that result in improved fatigue strength, making them ideal for delivering specific grain sizes for many industrial applications. Our standard cobalt aluminate inoculants contain a cobalt content as low as 33% and they are more cost effective in comparison to the 40% phase purity cobalt found in a typical cobalt oxide or cobalt silicate. Vibrantz inoculants also offer good slurry dispersibility due to the additional low impurity content of silver (Ag), bismuth, (Bi) and lead (Pb).
We also offer customized inoculant formulations with varying cobalt content as required based on specific applications.
Bioactive glass
Vibrantz produces bioactive glass used in the medical and dental industries that provides the ability to chemically bond with bone to aid in the repair of bone defects and implements manufacturing controls to ensure the highest purity bioactive glass that meets the stringent standards for use in medical products. High purity raw materials and a specialized manufacturing process are used to minimize trace impurities. Our research and development team along with our applied technology department work together with our customers to design and manufacture custom bioactive glass formulations based on specific needs.
Special functionality inks for digital printing on architectural glass
Our offering of special functionality inks for digital printing on architectural glass include extra durable S1 series inks, slip-resistant inks and anti-stick inks. These inks enable flexibility in the production of glass printed with designs that meet both aesthetic goals and functional performance requirements.
Extra durable S1 series inks for digital printing on architectural glass
Our Extra Durable S1 Series of ceramic inks are lead-free and cadmium-free. They are specifically formulated to comply with architecture industry standards and requirements for a wide range of glass digital printing applications. They can be processed using the same standard firing and tempering procedures commonly used across the glass industry. The S1 Series provides different levels of opacity for glass used in both interior design and building construction purposes, making them a top choice of leading architects. Offering high chemical, scratch, and environmental resistance, these inks reduce glare and reflection. The colors available are black and white ink, with the option of mixing to achieve shades of gray.
Slip-resistant ceramic inks for digital printing on architectural glass
Our Slip-Resistant inks create a non-abrasive smooth surface on glass that is anti-slip when wet or dry, ensuring safety and comfort when walking barefoot. The chemical resistance of these inks protect glass from being corroded by pool chemicals or seawater, making it ideal for a wide range of interior and exterior flooring applications. Vibrantz's Slip-Resistant inks for digital printing on architectural glass comply with industry standards for anti-slip glass coatings and offer excellent mechanical, environmental, UV and chemical stability performance. These properties make them ideal for other applications such as glass roofs, ceilings and ducts, which are not classified as floors but are accessed for maintenance.
Anti-Stick inks for digital printing on architectural glass
Anti-Stick Inks allow digitally printed glass for architectural applications to be bent during the thermal process (firing and/or tempering). This enables full-color digital printing on large glass panels, glass with sharp angles and glass that will be fired or tempered in furnaces that use molding. The Anti-Stick inks are available in seven colors: blue, green, white, orange, red, black and yellow which are suitable for both side 1 (S1) and side 2 printing.
Special effect inks for digital printing on architectural glass
Our special effect inks enable frosted, etched, sandblasted and other effects on glass without masking. Our light diffusion series of special effect inks for digital printing on architectural glass are an efficient, lead-free and environmentally friendly alternative to traditional glass etch processes. These inks provide detailed and versatile etch effects on glass using digital printing, for varied functional requirements, including privacy and light control.
For an extra shine with perfect metallic effects, Vibrantz’s precious metallic inks series of ceramic inks for digital printing are available in gold and platinum versions.
